The Greater Boston Federal Executive Board's PSRW Committee is charged with coordinating programs and events that celebrate public service and local Federal employees.
Diversity CommitteeThe mission of the Greater Boston Federal Executive Board (GBFEB) Diversity Committee is to promote diversity in the Federal workforce; foster equal opportunity and fair treatment of all persons regardless of race, gender, sexual orientation, disability, veteran's status, or participation in protected activities; raise awareness and promote understanding of the rich, diverse heritage of the citizens of this country. Through the coordination and approval of the Board of Directors, the committee's activities include the promotion of initiatives as directed by the President such as the effort to recruit more individuals of Hispanic heritage and with disabilities to the Federal workforce. In addition to supporting and promoting the activities of Federal special emphasis groups, the committee sponsors an annual Diversity Conference to provide training for employees, supervisors and managers designed to ensure a more diverse Federal workforce.
White House Initiatives Committee The purpose of the White House Initiatives Committee is to communicate information and to educate the Federal community about programs and managerial initiatives that are the highest priority of the current Administration. These responsibilities will be carried out through workshops, briefings, conferences and other forums.
Local Federal Coordinating Committee (LFCC)The GBFEB's Local Federal Coordinating Committee oversees the management of the Eastern Massachusetts Combined Federal Campaign.
- Combine Federal Campaign (CFC)
The CFC is the Federal government's unified fundraising effort and part of the nation's largest workplace campaign. The campaign encompasses more than 34,000 Federal employees and benefits upwards of 2,000 local, national and international charities. The Massachusetts Bay Area, Merrimack Valley, Central Massachusetts and Bristol County Combined Federal Campaigns merged together in 2004 to create a more efficient and cost effective campaign entitled the Eastern Massachusetts Combined Federal Campaign (CFC). The charitable organizations supported by the federal community BENEFIT from this merger.
Homeland Security CommitteeEstablished in December 2002, this Committee is charged with coordinating the exchange of up-to-date, accurate and consistent information among our local Federal agencies during emergency situations as well as keeping our member agencies aprised of the latest regarding Homeland Security initiatives.
Liaison to the Law Enforcement CommunityThe role of this individual is to help the GBFEB establish more gratifying and solid relationships with our Federal law enforcement community.
Emergency Decision/Notification CommitteeWhen an emergency exists, Federal agencies need to react responsibly and in unison to protect the well being of the Federal workforce and its customers. The GBFEB's role in emergency decisions and notifications is that of providing a "recommendation" based on up-to-date, consistent and accurate information from informed sources. Agency heads then make informed decisions about the status of their respective workplaces utilizing this recommendation.
Campaign to Promote Public ServiceStatistics indicate that the Federal government faces losing up to 50 percent of its workforce nationwide over the next five years through retirement. In response, the Greater Boston Federal Executive Board GBFEB launched a unified campaign in 2002 to educate high school guidance counselors and students about careers in the Federal government.
Federal agencies are, and will be, looking for highly motivated individuals who want to make a difference and help meet the needs of the American people. This program's goal is to reach the next generation of workers as they begin to make decisions about the future to educate them about the vast array of opportunities available with the U.S. government. The Campaign targets both students who will pursue higher education and those who will not.
Shared Neutrals ProgramThe goal of this GBFEB Program is to provide low cost, high quality mediation services to federal agencies by creating a pool of trained and experienced mediators from participating agencies, a process whereby a neutral third party (mediator) assists in resolving a dispute, or at least narrowing and clarifying issues, in a manner that is acceptable to both sides. This model uses one or two mediators who sit down with all parties and assist them in negotiating their own resolution to a dispute. The program is designed to quickly diffuse disputes, maintain communication within the workforce, and reduce the cost and time burden of processing formal complaints/grievances.
